@Delectable Wine this is the 2009 Graham Beck Cape Winemakers Guild Cuvée 105 ‘MGA’ Zero Dosage Pinot Noir Chardonnay Cap Classique. Yup that’s a mouthful.

Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).

First wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild. This is a sparkling wine (Methode Cap Classique) made by Pieter Ferreira from the Western Cape. Made up of 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay as well as aged on the lees for 105 months prior to disgorgement. Only 45 cases produced with 30 being auctioned in 2018.

Medium yellow in appearance with moderate liveliness. A bit stinky in the nose with some animal nuances, baked yeast, dirty cellar and a bit of minerality. Moderate acidity (6/10) with a light plus to medium body. A little tart on the palate with some Granny Smith apples and white gravel. Long finish. Drink till 2023.

$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R4,253.00 ($50.09 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R5,200.00 ($61.24 a bottle) and lowest bid was R3,600.00 ($42.40 a bottle).
