Cantine Sansilvestro
Patres Barolo Nebbiolo

I want to buy a case of this. A case!
Tobacco. Leather. Earthy. It helps that 06 was a good year for Barolo…. But this is $35CAD. Steal.
I think I’m going to pick up a few to age… could only imagine how good it will be in another 5 years or so.

Extra point for value. Tight on opening. Singing after 2 hours. Subtle dark fruit nose and palate. Grippy balanced and pleasantly intense tannins throughout long finish. Juicy acidity with earthy, leathery, tobacco, and mineral throughout.

This wine needs quite a bit of air before being served. Nice fruity nose, with cherry and strawberry marmalade. Palate of earthy, leather tones, some black pepper, quite dry.

San Silvestro ‘Sabbie’ Roero Arneis DOCG 2018: Medium-bodied. Nice structure. Bright acidity & freshness. Notes of citrus, peach & apple flavors combined with hints of honey and decent minerality. The finish was medium-long with a touch of nuttiness. All in all, this was a beautifully produced, balanced & tasteful northern Italian varietal. Cheers🍷

Mar 30th, 2022Very classic nose full of dried, dusty cherries, fresh and juicy, with an uplifting flowery note.
Medium bodied on the palate with a solid yet juicy tannic frame and good fruit & energetic acidity filing it nicely.
Not the most terroir driven or individualistic Barolo but in the spectacular vintage - a true & delicious classic!

I have some blame myself for drinking a heavy Sicilian wine before trying this one. There were a lot of light and delicate and lovely flavors of violet and cherry and raspberry and things of that nature. The problem is it seem to get overwhelmed with a previous wine and incredibly heavy homemade pizza we were making. Still, a beautiful expression of the grape and very enjoyable as it is.
