From mag. Sadly this is a little past prime drinking. Slightly oranged around the edges and with some sherried notes and a slight dry tartness to the finish. There’s still fruit here- dried roses, tar and a bit of molasses. Good balance too, though drying where you’d hope the midpalate offered more charm. It’s Certainly drinkable but compared to the mag of 88 Dom, this bottle Is firmly on the downslope. I’ve had older giacosa in much better shape. A shame- it’s bottle by bottle when they get to this age. A real treat to try it though.
