Brought to a nice dinner at our friend’s place on the Big Island. Nice youthful color with ample energy. Notes of citrus, bread basket and tan spice. Pretty good.

Medium gold color with great energy. Awesome nose with some aged notes. Citrus, toast, spice and some guava/kiwi. Great texture in the mouth. This is in a great spot.

Night 1 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Medium gold color, with oxidative nose. Notes of citrus, bread, green apples, some white stone. Great structure. Long finish. Really nice. Probably needs to be consumed sooner rather than later.

Popped this in anticipation of an Australian victory over England in the Rugby World Cup quarter final when we trailed 17-16 in the 2nd half. However we ended up getting trounced 40-16. This Champers was mid Lemon Gold with an ultra fine bead. Funky lemon mineral notes with apple pie pastry. Even at 17 years good tension with possibly another 10 years of cellaring. Although pretty irresistible right now. As Churchill said You deserve Champagne in victory and you need it in defeat!

From magnum. Needed a decent starter for arrivals and this served that purpose and then some. Nice straw and light gold color. Strong steady stream of bubbles. Notes of green apples, brioche, river stone and saline. Decent finish. (Bday dinner 1/13)

Delectable this is not the Rose. It is the Brut. Mid lemon in colour. Bakery yeasty aromas with Lemon citrus. A super fine continuous bead. Amazing that the blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay - the flavour profile being more like a Blanc de Blancs. With time a note of grilled pineapple. Great flavour intensity and energy with still good cellaring potential from the excellent 2002 vintage.

2002 vintage. Just awesome!!! Buttered honeyed warm bread on the nose. Creamy and elegant on the palate. It's heaven in a glass!

The 2002 ‘Grand Annee’ is a scintillating effort from this great vintage in champagne. This bottle tried last night performed considerably better than when I first tried the wine several years ago. The wine is a stunning blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, 71% sourced from Grand Cru villages while 29% comes from from Premier Crus. The wine was disgorged in February 2011. Alluring on the nose this brings some immediate appeal with its nutty and earthy tertiary tones which combine with kumquat zest and shades of cinnamon infused Challah bread which all take shape in the glass. A racy salinity runs through this wine that shows off its silky mousse and wonderful weight. Ripe green apple and sourdough bread flavors combine with shades of Macadamia nut, peat moss and damp earth flavors. Thrilling at nearly the eighteen year mark, this intense and rich champagne will have at least another fifteen years ahead of it. Drink 2019-2035- 96
