An earthy, rustic wine that is somewhat reticent with regard to its fruit characteristics yet. It is luxuriously aromatic, with anise, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. It kindly suggests cherries and dark plums on the palate before exploding into a bouquet of spicy flavors, including coriander seed and clove. It has a strong acidity (perhaps a touch too much, invoking balsamic) and a hefty tannic finish evocative of cedar, tobacco, and black tea. Big n' mean, though the mouthfeel is a bit thin considering its complexity. Almost certainly needs much more time to reach its full potential, as it feels not quite "there" yet - but an intriguing and promising juice now. Opened up beautifully after 90 minutes.
