Soil and American oak, refined strawberry/cherry/anise, lots of rich earth in finish.

Still more in the youthful side of life. Herbs, black cherry, hint of vanilla, smoke, little bit of a cedar thing going on. Velvety mouthfeel. Fine tannins, lingering finish. Probably could have benefited from a good decant. Still changing almost two hours in.

Lovely aromas of sour cherries, raspberries, licorice, roasted meats, earthy undertones, old leather, iron shavings, and sweet spices. Clean and focused on the palate with bright red fruit, orange peel, refreshing acidity, and a long silky finish dominated by spices and a touch of creaminess.

Gorgeous coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes complement the dark cherry fruit and tobacco qualities of this wine. Fresh acidity keeps it lively.

Great fruit. Very smooth right now. One bottle left, probably won't wait too much longer to drink it.

An earthy, rustic wine that is somewhat reticent with regard to its fruit characteristics yet. It is luxuriously aromatic, with anise, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. It kindly suggests cherries and dark plums on the palate before exploding into a bouquet of spicy flavors, including coriander seed and clove. It has a strong acidity (perhaps a touch too much, invoking balsamic) and a hefty tannic finish evocative of cedar, tobacco, and black tea. Big n' mean, though the mouthfeel is a bit thin considering its complexity. Almost certainly needs much more time to reach its full potential, as it feels not quite "there" yet - but an intriguing and promising juice now. Opened up beautifully after 90 minutes.
