Deep, vivid ruby. Vibrant red and dark berry, floral pastille and licorice scents are complemented by smoky mineral and cracked pepper accents. Sappy and energetic in the mouth, offering juicy black raspberry and cherry cola flavors that deepen and become spicier as the wine opens up. Finishes with smoky mineral thrust, smooth, slow-building tannins and very good, floral-tinged persistence. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2021)

2011. Complex nose. Deeply pitched ripe dark berry fruit, wood smoke and piercing rock dust notes. Sledgehammer powerful in the mouth. Almost overwhelming rich dry extract coats the mouth. Huge body. Finish is very long with pure dark berry notes and dark minerals competing to see who quits first. Great wine. But you have to pick your moments for this one.

Instant gratification. A powerhouse of a wine, just plummy and cocoa-ey enough, without being blowsy and overextracted.

Big and bold, with initial VA that's now blowing off. Oak is starting to integrate better, but could use a few more years in the cellar.
