Volcanic rock, black currant, molasses. Medium bodied, elegant tannin. Aging gracefully.

This is a great wine, perhaps one of the best Beringer’s I have had. Much less fruit forward than most CA cabs with an awesome smokiness and tartness that comes together nicely. Was a steal at $100 a bottle and definitely a re-buy.

Didn’t get a chance to decant this wine at first , and it had so much mineral that it was jarring ... didn’t expect that. Left it open for a while and then decanted which helped ease the tension so as to speak ! Just wasn’t as predictable as a beringer , I guess. Volcanic for sure though it did show some fruit in the end.

Drink beautifully. Currant and subtle cherry layered with minerality for a nice balance

Aromas of mushrooms and dried herbs. Fig, molasses and tobacco mid palate. One of the most savory wines I’ve ever had. Smooth cherry finish.

SBRAGIA!! This was opened tonight. Cork bleed through about 20% of the cork. Initially the nose was quite amazing, and really showed signs of herb and mature black fruit. The palate didn't match the nose. On the palate, initially there was a LOT of smoke, green herb and bitter tobacco, pungent finish which was rather "shroomy." But, the structure of this wine was rather good, with tannin just about 100% resolved. This wine improved SUBSTANTIALLY over the next hour. Front was blackberry, herb, black tea and fig. The middle still showed some tobacco and a bit of green pepper, but it was in check, and allowed the blackberry and black pepper to finish the job.

Nice dry cab. Better with beef than stand alone.
