It’s my lucky day. This fell out of the sky. It has long been one of my inspirations. I tasted this soon after arriving in the Napa Valley and it has informed my stylistic thinking for over 40 years. Definitely well along in life but still has much to say. Flowers and leather. Forest floor earthiness.

One of my two surprise wines of the night. Wow this is good and from a vintage that always excels but was lost in the shadows of 69.

We tasted this blind in a mixed lineup, nobody guessed domestic, let alone Cabernet Sauvignon! Very oxidative and rustic, like a Repasso Amarone. Very cool to taste, but I wouldn't want a whole bottle.

Possible short term storage issue. Definite structure and sweet fruit below the funky nose.

1970 is one of the greatest BV Georges de Latours ever. It remains rich, layered, complex, with dark earth and leather strap aromas. Great wine.

Perfect condition. Stunning cedar and sweet dried cherry and dried flowers with a gorgeous earthiness underneath. Holy cow this wine has length...
