I wanted to taste primarily their single vineyards Cabernet Sauvignons. The staff at AXR was gracious enough to accommodate.

The nose on Sleeping Lady reveals nice, ripe, ruby, floral & candied fruits of; dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black plums & black raspberries. Tarry tannins, used expresso grounds, dark rich soil, dark barrel char, limestone minerals, dry crushed rocks, some brown sugar/molasses, perfumed, dark, brightly fresh; dark, red & purple flowers.

The palate reveals big, dusty dry & meaty tannins. The fruits were somewhat muted/closed. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plums, dark cherries, used expresso grounds, sweet dark tarriness, wood staves, dry tobacco, leathery, dry crushed rocks, dry brush, understated & evenly layered baking spices, mid dark spices with withering, dark, red, & purple flowers. The acidity is round & pleasant. The long, well balanced finish leads with fruit and persists nicely landing on dry tannins & earthiness.

Photos of, the entrance to their main tasting room in the rear of the property, the main house as you drive up to their Estate, redwood trees that surround the Estate and a look straight up through their redwoods.
