Full disclosure: I avoid Barolo’s like the plague, and I’ve never been a fan of the Nebbiolo grape — because I always thought it was too tannic for my delicate palate. ;-) Fortunately the Adelaida Vineyards Wine Club sent this bottle to me before I could change my order, and I’ve discovered an absolutely lovely wine. Mint and saffron on the nose. A little tongue kiss of red raspberries on the front, and the light tannic structure carries it through to the end. I can taste the calcaire of the Adelaida district in the high notes, and those mineral notes give give it a very soft but long finish. If you like Sonoma Coast Pinots, I think you’ll definitely love this wine. It has that Nebbiolo tannic tartness, but it doesn’t overwhelm the other taste components of this wine. Very drinkable. I’m going to see if I can order more.
