Amazing structure and balance. The 2017 Barbera has fresh Iris, cherry and vanilla on the nose. On the palate it is juicy black fruits like blackberry and plum finishing with a spicy mocha. We had it with grilled lamb chop, green bean casserole, sweet potato and garlic bread. Yum will buy again

A little hot and tannic. Loosened up a bit after an hour. Blackberry, black currant, oaky vanilla, and violets.

Medium bodied, moderate tannin, higher acidity. Blackberry, raspberry, tea, iron or perhaps iodine at the end.

Much enjoyed. Adequately big for my tastes. Not too dry. Nice rounded, full bodied rich finish in the mouth. I can’t describe the nose well. Red fruit there, but husky, not “fruity” or fresh smelling. Strongly agree, “[black] tea” is a prominent flavor that also describes this wine’s “dryness” (which is almost a flavor more than a mouthfeel quality). Herbal flavors. Sweet char, like edges of pork fat. Very good structure and mouth feel. Biting dry flavors on the FRONT of palate, but NOT at the finish. I imagine it with salt forward Northern Italian flavors: capers, olive, heavily herbed fish or roasts. Good value.

I’m bucking the review trend here and saying once this wine is allowed to breathe, there’s lovely Italian #barbera spice, wild cherry fruit and tannins with a firm but polished grip.
