Great village wine. Not sure if there’s any declassified fruit in here too? Pondered the cost a few years ago when it seemed like the second coming of a little known producer that was garnering atmospheric prices at auction …. Insider knowledge of Beaux Monts, Malconsorts or even Echezeaux in the bottle labeled as Village wine? It was getting $600+ at auction then and this week I noticed it being offered at $250 and going unsold 😳🤔
Hype at first now realized?

Nose of raspberries, spices and a hint of flowers. Very fine, almost not noticeable tannins and a floral element in the mouth that is medium lenght and ends on licorice and flowers. Interestingly accessible today but lots of potential. More to hold than to drink. Highly recommended. Charles Lachaux does less new oak and less extraction, more whole bunches, and it shows. Very elegant overall.

Strikingly complex while also med/light in body with good amount of red fruit. Med/dark in color and bits of spice, earth, red fruit and smoke and vanilla I love is present. Palate is 80/20 red fruit / black fruit. Built to age - had some 10 hours later and still enjoyable to drink.

Son of winemaker took over and is implementing new world process. Some whole cluster, less oak, more fruit. Wine specialist at restaurant in Beaune said would be a big deal in years to come...
