Spelt Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

2016 Spelt is wonderful. Spice flavors very pushed forward in this vintage, with a fairly strong eucalyptus and licorice component. Blackberry compote, cigar box, minty finish. Damn good year for this wine.

This was just gorgeous - so elegant, so much style, and I believe this will only improve w/age due to impressive concentration & balance. Ripe black & red fruit, whirlwind of tertiary notes - just kept evolving. Smooth, finely grained tannins & suave acidity.

Spices and mint, nice acidity and tight tannin. Overall on the light side. We had mushroom and chicken with it, great paring.

Bitter, woody, cinnamon

Note to Delectable; this is not from Tuscany. It’s Montepulciano d’ABRUZZO. Little lighter and leaner than the 2012 I had, but still full of flavor. Nose reminded me of Zin. Blackberry, cherry, cloves, beautifully balanced. A terrific Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. If u like them, try this.

Family fave; “robust but not too strong”, good flavor; “complex”, “nice lingering taste”
