First Oregon Cab Franc. Pretty decent effort. Showing its American origin, definitely ripe in comparison to how I'd expect one from the Loire to taste (which is my most prominent frame of reference for CF). The tiniest bit too extracted and "international" in style for me but not overwhelmingly so, still shows some varietal typicity. Dense blackberry and black cherry fruit, some fresh jalapeño oil and roasted red bell pepper, wet gravelly earth, violet floral tones, slight licorice and vanilla, and some subtle cracked black pepper and fresh sweet tobacco character. Plush, medium body but still with a decent backbone of moderate acid. Supple tannin of medium (-) intensity. Not perfectly in line with my preferences for Cabernet Franc but very good nonetheless. Nice accompaniment to a good burger and fries.
