I could have sworn that based on its appearance, that this was a pinot - not a good sign...
Nutmeg, barrel toast, cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Palette is consistent and lithe. Medium tannins and good acidity. Comes across as "hot" on the palette. It's nice, but somewhat simple. I would not have tagged this as a syrah. Maybe I have been recently spoiled, but this is nowhere close to the WA 95 pt rating.
