For the Wine Spectator readers: a ripe, deeply fruity, spicy nose and dark, plush, concentrated palate, and for the cool kids: a modicum of restraint. Not quite intellectually stimulating, but this walks the line well, especially for a $20 California-appellated Zinfandel. Also: totally plausible that as the primary fruit recedes, this could become a serious wine; it's got the guts. Enjoyed with shaking beef

The 2015 Old Vines #zinfandel from #Bedrock displayed an intense bouquet mixing ripe blue and black fruits with smoke, minerals and grilled herbs. On the palate, I found silky textures offset by zesty spices and brisk acidity with black fruit and hints of Violette candies. It finished with medium-length and a mix of saturating dark fruits and spice. This is a remarkable value, punching well above it's price point.

Beautiful Zin, well balanced and supple. I don't say his often about Zin. Coincidentally this wine made it to no. 12 on WS top 100 wines of 2017. Well deserved. WS 93 Pts. Top 10 2017 tasting at NCWC.

Should have grabbed more of this at the time, but who knew it would be #12 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2017? No question they deserved it... Turley-esque, but more vivid. If zinfandel was fresh squeezed pink lemonade.

Medium purplish red. Dark spices on the nose, bitter cocoa, oak barrel, some animal nuances, light cherries, a touch smoky and crushed gravel. Tight on the tannins (6.5/10) not yet rounded. Complex palate yet tight as well with notes of raw twigs, bramble berries, anise, spices, dried cherries, a touch of alcohol and pepper. Long finish with definite potential to improve once the palate rounds out. Drink till 2024.

Solid, modestly-priced Zin. Zinny thinks the moniker “old vine” is hooey. He says he’s older in dog years than this is in Zin years.

This has lots of plummy blackberry fruit and warm sandstone earthiness. Full- bodied but not jammy or hot (14.4%).

Bright purple red in color. Cherry, berry, leather and barrel wood in nose. Raspberry, cherry and black pepper notes in mouth. Tight tannins, needs lots of time to open

Real wine. Violets, koi pond, plum bread, dried raspberries in a Sumatran coffee and gunpowder tea bran muffin. Shoe leather in clear polish. Wound up a little tightly as it was just opened, the palate receives a heaping spoonful of coal and banana leaf, with iron pellets. You can see the shadow of the panther in this one! Pure muscle. Cracked pepper, smooth, flat black stones; dried violets, tar, squid ink and flame-touched hemp. Not your typical Zin fare, this one elevates the cultivation to an art form. 80 year old vines strumming archaic, wooden energies into the glass. Remember this is Zin, which is the neon calling card of the wine arcade, then find yourself called to a state of bliss. #zinfomaniacs #zintastic #zincredible #zin #bedrock #bedrockwineco #oldvinesyounglove #oldvine #oldvines #oldvinezin #zinfandel #zinfadel #caliclassic
