Clos Lojen Manchuela Bobal

I picked this Spanish red wine made from the Bobal grape because it intrigued me. Ponce works biodynamically, the vines aren't trellised or trained, they avoid irrigation and chemical intervention. The 'Clos Lojen' is from a 60 year vineyard & is fermented in a 4500 lite oak barrel!

This is what I thought..

Ruby red/garnet colour in the glass with an earthy yet fruity nose on it. Think fruits of the forest, black cherry and cigars. In the mouth it's like an adults only Dr Pepper, cherry cola and a touch of anise on the finish. Bright, juicy and yes I'd drink it again. We had it with leftover braised beef ragu 👌

Fun bobal rose light cherry $20

Un vin de cellier que je n’ai rien trouvé de particulier mais à voir les multiples notes en général... est-ce avec quoi je l’ai accordé ? À ré-essayer.

Dry. Medium body. Strong almost acidic aftertaste but not necessarily unpleasant, more of an unfamiliar taste. Enjoyed it much more 24 hours after opening. It became more gentle on the palate and smooth and fresh all the way through; no longer strong or acidic.

The perfect wine for the full moon in Taurus. Rich, wet-earth flavors that start tangy but mellow out with drinking. A real earthly delight.

Oooh. Very smooth and fresh. I need to try more bobal...

Bobal. Valencian grape in Castilla La Mancha. Very tasty.
