Vieilles Vignes Saint Joseph Syrah

2014 drunk in 2022. Deep fruit and leathery tannins, just as you’d expect. Wonderful.

Iron notes with black olive and dried woodsy notes. Fine grain wood tannin, slight oxidation, dark earth and earl grey notes.

Young. Super solid. Expressive. Energetic. Fresh. Nice soft edges. Yum.

Loads of black pepper on the nose, with hints of clove, eucalyptus, and plum. Black pepper carries through to the palate with the addition of sour cherries, black tea, slate, and a nice chalkiness. Decent acidity and a medium finish. Overall, an interesting and layered wine; one that would shine better with food rather than on its own.

Spicy & savory notes on the nose. Blue fruit & fresh summer berries with some briny character on the palate finishing with a mild spicy note. Wonderfully complex & shows a mild tannic grip. Very nice.

Nariz: mora, pimienta, aceitunas, regaliz, cuero

Boca: Seco, Tanino M/ M+, Acidez M/ M+, Alcohol M

This is just delicious. Dark fruit, pepper, and a long smoky bacon finish. Great value for the the $37 price, and will improve with a few years.
