This is a terrific cab from the Sonoma Valley AVA with excellent concentration and depth. The red fruits stood shoulder to shoulder to black fruits, giving the wine a fresh feel. Medium to full body with plush tannins.
I have not heard of the winery before this bottle, and was so surprised to learn that Gundlach Bundschu is the 2nd oldest winery in the California, and has been continuously owned by the same family since 1858. Talk about history!

Maraschino and currant, some nice acidity, stemmy wood integrated tannin full body clean finish, not too long. Peppery.

When I first opened, I got buttered popcorn, like you would get at a movie theater. As it got more air, the fruit came out and it opened up nicely. Reeeeeeaaaaally tasty.

Drank with a Little Shasta Ranch bone-in ribeye steak, and the two played off of each other for a magnificent meal!
