Lorraine Syrah
Paul brought to cousins lunch @ Mark/Kimiko’s…classic dry/dark inky Syrah, excellent, goes down a bit too easy

Feb 18th, 2023Not the greatest incarnation of this wine - but still terrific - the 2011 is remarkably approachable at such a (relatively) young age. A little closed at first, the wine opened up quickly to reveal the classic Alban aromas that we all love: roasted meat, iodine, blackberries, and a hint of smoke. A bit more fruit-forward than is typical for a Lorraine: that coupled with some softer tannins suggest that this is probably not one to forget about for a decade. Drinking really well right now (but it faded relatively quickly for an Alban - within a couple of hours - so this is on a fast evolutionary track).

Dec 31st, 2019This bottle rocks! So well balanced, fruit on the front with a wonderfully rich mid-palette and lasting finish. Best Lorraine I’ve had yet. Guess they just need time

Oct 22nd, 2017Wow, need an atomic bomb emoji (heck maybe thermonuclear) for this wine. Way too young, but wanted something special. Intense black fruits, tar, asphalt, fish oil (?), the finish lasts for a day! Very intense flavors just saturates the pallet. Will score higher as it ages and softens up.
