A perfect accompaniment to a steak dinner for my wife's birthday! Opens slowly to reveal smoky, ashy minerality and deep berry fruit. Nice balance for a 14.5, with a long, savory finish.
UPDATE (night 2): so much more open on the nose and deeply flavored. Just striking fruit. So long.

This is a bottled holiday charcuterie board. Rich red fruit, salumi, and olive tapenade, complete with spiced graham crackers and cranberry potpourri. An absolutely gorgeous, medium-bodied adolescent, with superfine tannins and a satiny mouthfeel that puts the finish on full display. I suspect there's more to see here in couple years. Brilliant.

3/22 really liked this wine. It had good bones but it was not too deep. Nice balance of strength and easy drinkability. 88 Octavio at Wine Ex $ 35.

Very tasty but not much like a Syrah. If I had guessed blind I’d have said well-made, California Zinfandel. Ripe blackberry, brambly fruit with a touch of spice. None of the olive, pepper, smoky, or bacon fat type of Syrah flavors. Still good though.

Classic Rhone Style Syrah from Washington State. Violets and spice on the nose and deep cherry notes on the pallet. Wonderful balance and mild tannins. Outstanding Effort! Really well made! Revisited in May 2020. Wine is evolving. Noticed more black fruit and black olives. More mineral driven. Hitting the sweet spot!

Perhaps a bit overpriced but really good stuff if one likes a modern style syrah. Liquorice and raspberry along with some spice and black fruit. Charles is Charles.
