Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.

Nice nose of black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, licorice, spices, chocolates, vegetables, forest floor, smoke and peppercorn.

Medium to full bodied and rich, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with red currants, plums, strawberries, wood, licorice, vegetables, vanilla, bitter herbs, pencil lead, spices and peppercorn.

Nice finish with firm tannins, tangy cranberries and black pepper.

This Spanish Monastrell is never boring. Well balanced and approachable. Earthy and spicy, with lots of fresh fruit.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. Enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with chicken and pork BBQ skewers.

Grapes are grown on clay soils and aged in French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

This wine comes from the family winery of a very nice chap who was at business school with me. It is the first from them I've tried. Jelly beans and violets burst from the glass in a manner that is more attractive than I initially thought.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Beautiful nose of blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, sweet raspberries, light vanilla, coffee, tobacco, green pepper, dirt, pencil lead and peppercorn.

Full bodied and rich, with medium plus acidity and great looking legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, bitter herbs, vegetables, asparagus, spices and peppercorn.

Medium finish with firm, angular tannins, bitter herbs and black pepper.

A great Spanish Monastrell. This silver label from Juan Gil, is great by itself, but better with BBQ Meats.

A little bitter on the finish and slightly unbalanced right now, but I really enjoyed it for its complexity. Still young, and needs another couple of years to come to its own.

100% Monastrell grapes from old vines, grown on limestone and rocky gravel, that produce low yields. Aged in mostly French oak barrels.

Pretty solid monastrell, rich fruit, good secondary notes like raisins and caramel, Mike tannins, good acid, we will see how this progresses with age.

First time with grape. Very smooth, yet with a fair amount of fruit taste.
