Saturday night and I felt like having a good Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. I have opened the 2012 Domaine Drouhin Laurène Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

On the nose there is strawberry, cherry, cranberry, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, rose petal, a hint of smoke and fresh earth.

On the palate I am getting strawberry, tart cherry, cranberry, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, spice, a hint of oak and a nice earth note.

This wine is medium bodied that fills the palate with medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that moves right into a medium + to long red fruit finish. Seems as though we are moving out of our 3 month slumber very briskly and there are those that think that all is normal. Please continue to practice social distancing, stay healthy and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

The 2012 ‘Laurene’ Pinot Noir by the talented Veronique Drouhin is a stunning effort at now seven years of age. Very pretty red rose petals aromas connect with shades of peat moss, white truffle shavings and black fruits, with smoky undertones that round out this fantastic nose. The palate has an incredible combination of freshness and richness, with gobs of minerality. The balance imparted is gorgeous, as vibrant minerals collide with ripe red cherry, guava, teaberry and cran-pomegranate flavors. While a delight to enjoy now, this is only starting to come of age. Drink 2019-2038- 95

Last night with close friends for my birthday I decided to open a beautiful Pinot Noir from the WillametteValley. The 2012 Domaine Drouhin Laurene.

Nose: plum, cherry, vanilla, smoke, forest floor.

Palate: Bing Cherries, red raspberries, clove, spice, cola, black tea.

Medium + Acidity, Medium + sandy mouth coating tannins, well intigrated, well balanced and with a pleasingly long finish. I was very happy with this Pinot Noir.

2012 vintage....The last great show stopper was 2008. This beats it.
A symphony of red and dark cherries with cola on the nose. Depth and richness with more to come.
WOW...black cherry, black tea, spicy ripe raspberries, lush fruit and pomegranate. Seamless, everything is in balance and harmony....acids and tannins. I truly wish I had bought another case of this stunning wine.

The 2012 Laurene is terrific and just about in a great drinking window. The lingering tannins suggest a longer trajectory but this wine is very nice now. It doesn’t scream Oregon for me though. That said, very nice on this snowy evening.

This 2012 OR Pinot is terrific. A little woodsy, but what else do we expect from OR. Not as Burgundian, as Burgundy, but great nonetheless!

Very light hints of smoke. Hints of flint or match tips. Cherry staring to show. Not bad

We had the 2012 Vintage on 5/27-28/17. Better on the second night as the tannins were really smoothed out. Great tastes of cherry and raspberry. Great mouth feel. Smooth finish to this medium bodied wine. We bought this at the winery in 7/14.
