Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Downhill slope. Still pleasant

Gosh dang. Wish I had gotten another bottle. I saved this from last October at The Wine House's Antinori fest...another coming up so maybe I should go. Anyway I adore a good Barbaresco. More quickly sip-able than Barolo. This is all the fresh roses and dried orange peel you can imagine. The tannins are a smidgen rough still. I opened this early I now know, hence my desire for another bottle to age. But there are those backnotes of violet, frankincense (or myrrh? They run together in my memory), angry earth (not yet tar and yet!) and blueberry that are hiding there in the very back. This is a tasty wine that could use another year or so to knit together. The acid is decent but the tannins need to get their act together. I say this even after "decanting" into my Zalto Burgundy glass for a lil' while...but maybe I still need a real decanter, and maybe more than an hour of wine relaxation . And patience.

Red Jols, candied orange, blackcurrant soother and spice. Charming little number

Splendid juice. Easy to drink with lots of spaghetti. Subtle hints of tar. Raspberries.

Just opened, this Barbaresco is aptly named with soft prune notes up front. A little air reveals some smooth tannins, mushroom, sour cherry, and moss. Accessible and tasty, but ultimately light in acid. A decent value at Costco.

Lighter and softer than my recent 2012 Barolos... ready to drink now. Tea leaves, rose petals, almondine, allspice, orange zest. Luxurious but less food-worthy.

Soft, light, a little sweet, balanced. Really took me by surprise. Totally enjoyed it!

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Wedding red option worthy...

Brick color. Licorice on the nose. Cherry and orange. Tar finish. Acidity is present. Tannins all kinds :) I would preserve a few more years.

Very good, both by itself and with steak and cheese. Great aroma and complex but not heavy at all
