Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese

Classic. Ripe, dark black cherry, tannin, beastly

A bit riper than usual (thanks 2011 vintage) but spot on classic Sangiovese. Love this producer and wine.

Oh, the joy of beautifully crafted Sangiovese. And if Balance/Line/Length are your thing you will be pretty damn happy. I’d say it’s definitely in its drinking window and see little reason for further cellaring. Paired it with sweet Italian chicken sausages and creamy mushroom polenta.

Light but balanced not fruity complexity and earthy. Delicious.

This is in a perfect drinking spot right now. First time pairing with a roasted chicken? Match from the gods.

Cherry liqueur, blackberry compote, black currant, plum, mint, fresh thyme, iron, balsamic, pine. Perfect sharp acid/wide rough velvet tannins, juicy-silky texture, full bodied, long dry smoky-slightly earthy finish. Strong complex aromatics, highly evolved in glass. Hard to find a wine this complex in its price range. Classic producer.
