The current vintage I tasted with Naoko today. A generous vintage in Napa, to be sure, but the sense of restraint, understatement and control is commendable.

Youngest DV I’ve had. IMO these are best to start at the 10 year mark and this one’s no exception. Big alcohol for them (15.2%), but all the classic pure black fruit and wet tobacco.

Nov 26th, 2019Red dark purplish color. Dark cherry plum chocolate nose. Luxurious smooth and velvety feel in the mouth. Tannins are sweet with plum dark cheery flavors and subtle notes of vanilla, chocolate and espresso.

Double decant (decent sediment) and pour. Color is a red/purple with hints of brown on the edge. On the nose: black fruit, cherry, chocolate, spices. Taste: dark cherry, plum, blueberry, spice, sweet tannins with a velvet mouth feel.
