Domaine de Montbourgeau
Cuvée Spéciale L'Etoile Savagnin
Curried cashews and green apple; grape variety gives way to place and winemaking, as this easily recalls the Savagnin.

Lucky to taste this twice in a month. Racy acidity for 09, balanced with notes of celery, leather and spice. One of my favorite sans soufre wines.

Dec 16th, 2015Terrific. I like it even more than the regular bottling which is savagnin and chardonnay. It seems fresher - although there is still that telltale oxidative note, it's bright and chalky, even lemony out of the gate before some of the deeper tones come out.
