The ripeness and softness of this surprised me very much. Quite nice, though it should have been had with food, and/or open for much longer. This stuff can age a good long while.

Deep purple with notes of leather, smoke and graphite. Full bodied, masculine to the core and bursting with ripe black cherry, tobacco, dried rose petals and fig jam. A huuuuge wine, less in body than in the punch it packs - tannins are mighty but they are nicely integrated into the green olive, peppery finish. The nose is loaded with smoked meat and sweet BBQ. Decanting is a must here and I really enjoyed how it developed over the night. By the end, I was tasting a Christmas spiced plum jam!
