Nikteri Assyrtiko

Rich briny and ashy, with citrus, apple, asian pear fruit, cleansing acidity. Richly hued. Pair with good sardines.

Ok, but over-oaked in my opinion. I did get some anise notes or flavors, with some of the other cooking spices, but predominantly heavy butter, like a cheap Chardonnay from CA. Totally covers the light bright minerality that I expect in an Assyrtiko.

Has a floral taste, also a little salinity. Really an interesting wine. At first the middle is a little hollow, but it transforms as it warms up into the typical assyrtiko

Light acid, green apple, and pear. Opens up nicely. Great with Greek food, especially salty dips.

Solid with richer food due to the acidity - very nice solo as well

Dry, light, high acid. Lime, green apple and pear.

Nikteri means "the night's work" and it's apparent this wine is a creature of dark hours. Honeyed, marzipan, salted caramel. Alkaline, herbal, salty. If Sherry had no flor and Malmsey Madeira had a Greek baby.
