This is spectacular. Spice and minerals and dark red fruit on the beguiling, enchanting, endlessly fascinating nose. A touch lean from the acid but it lends a laser focus to the velvety texture. Fantastic length, fantastic wine, could spend forever just smelling it. Much to my regret given the expense, this lives up to the hype.

1996 Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos St. Jacques Gevrey Chambertin burgundy. Forest floor funk on the nose, which mellowed out to become more dark cherry. Drank during lunch at the house w J&D B, A&S. We all favored the other to drink today while A predictably preferred this one.

Jun 6th, 20161996 Armand Rousseau Domaine St. Jacques Burgundy. Drank at Bottega Napa w A&S. This wine drank perfectly. High acid, interesting nose that evolved through the night. Very interesting to drink in comparison to the 1990 Chateau Margaux. Great!
