If someone else pays for it, a pretty good 2008. Far from peak. Noble if a little blunt.

Still ruby center, garnet rim. Tobacco , blackcurrant , coffee on the nose . Rounded blackcurrant , more herbal and tobacco on the palate. Ripe tannins , nice balanced acidity , and good length. A nicely made and successful second wine for the vintage . Enjoyable now and over the next couple of years.

Quite deep ruby , small just pink rim . Quite young looking . Quite a lot of plum , blackberry fruit but with a slightly austere note, coffee also. Black fruits on the palate , coffee , cocoa . Slightly short and perhaps hollow mid palate but reasonable sweetness of fruit if the tannins do leave a slightly bitter note. Acidity in check however. Overall not bad for a second wine from an slightly better than average year, though it probably is not going to get much better.

This is the 2nd for Chateau Montrose which is 2nd class in Bordeaux. Deep red violet color, raspberry nose, Saint Estephe taste with a bit strong tannin. But it is necessary to wait at least for 30 minutes. Later on, I could feel sweetness. The degree of perfection for the balance is really high. @1400, Winano, 170121

2008 Vintage: not really a bad wine, but I expected a bit more from this producer. It is a rather simple Bordeaux with a ripe plum/dark cherry core, a touch of green leaves and menthol, violets, and lighter than expected tannins. Again- far from a "bad" wine, but just lacking the layers and structure I would have expected from a St. Estephe Bordeaux. If you have one, go ahead and pair it with a casual meal, but don't go out of your way to buy one, or save it for a special meal.
