Finally they got me. A Carlisle I can appreciate. Huge boysenberry fruit, good acid, balanced. A little hot on the finish.

Showed more age than the 2004 Pietro and 2005 Tom Feeney. Still drinking well though.

Wow. 16yr Ca. Zin. Carlisle is well known for their Zins. This proves it true. Nice balance of tannins and fruits. I would even say it could go another few years. 🤔

A near perfect drinking experience is the dark ruby '06 Carlisle Zinfandel 'Montafi Ranch'. It opens with an intoxicating bouquet of brambly dark berries, anise, cracked pepper and eucalyptus aromas. The best positive, comparative and superlative adjectives to describe the mouthfeel are smooth, smoother and smoothest. The unctuous mouth is flooded with all the sweetest and ripest dark fruit flavors imaginable. The finish is very long, rich and creamy with even more fruit and spice on the aftertaste. Dazzling stuff!

A perfect match with our Slow-Cooker Pot Roast was the '06 Carlisle Zinfandel 'Montafi Ranch'. Scents of briery raspberries, pepper, smoky earth with hints of minerals and flowers teased the nose. Nice complexity with a penetrating persistence finish.
