Tawny with thin amber rims. Dry fruit nose. Notes of dried cherries, some cranberry, a fresh cigar cut, a dollup of raspberry jam and a hint of menthol. Silky in the mouth. Tannins resolved with enough fruit to balance with the structure. Probably past it’s prime showing but very nice tonite nonetheless.

Tasted blind. Dark ruby almost opaque. Black fruit notes with some wood notes and a little pepper and spice. Rich. Guessed Rhône but was surprised to see it being Cornas. Not as exotic as younger bottles of this. At peak and clearly ready for consumption.

So much tobacco. That crossed with seared fois gras. Just about on the right side of drinkable in terms of drinking window. Interesting stuff.

Beautiful plummy color. At the brink, a piney almost retsina-like flash, as it opens up to violet and licorice pastille overlaying a deep savoury flinty cap gun/strike anywhere match chemistry. In balance with smooth polished tannins. Scrubby mountain herbaceousness with Iodine minerality finish. Quite luscious.

Slight leak and thus mid-shoulder fill, purchased on release at KLWM, smells and tastes like classic Cornas, bacon/wild animal notes, pure redfruits, soft tannins, lovely acidity, I have to admit being a Verset >> Clape guy generally, but this is lovely, long finish!!

This did not show as well as the btl I had a few mths ago, it may have been that it was served next to the Allemand & the N Verset.
