Starting to show some secondary notes of olives, pencil shavings and roasted meat. Very pretty wine

Tasting at the breathtaking Mayacamas Vineyard. Beautiful tertiary nose, bacon, fine leather, game, truffle as well as some fading red fruit component. Well resolved tannins, still young, very dry finish. Just gorgeous. My girlfriend's favorite😳 13.25% alc. 2003 vintage

Like its older sibling (the 86) - very Barolo like - perhaps a bit more dark earth than 86. Lovely!

I would never guess this wine had as much age as it did. Drinking so fresh and bright right now. The nose is super pungent and lifted and the palate is a contrast of dusty earth and crunchy red fruits. Spices florals, mint, damp earth, crushed rocks, red currant and plum. Structurally the tannins are fine yet you can sense their power on the palate still. You can taste the hard work it takes to make this wine

Friday night catch-up. Friends brought this beautiful wine back from their recent Napa travels. 80% Cab Sauv 10% Cab Franc 10% Merlot. 13.75% ABV. 100% goodness. Interesting to compare this one to the 2011 Phillip Togni that I opened that night.
