Someone described this to me as the Pinot noir that has learned to speak Italian. I think that's a pretty accurate description. Fruity, but with the fine grained dusty tannins and high toned acidity that seems to run through all good Italian varietals.

Happiness. Quickly falling in love with Sicilian wines, and especially Nerello Mascalese based wines from Etna.

Everyone needs mt Etna wines in their collection (Sicily). Some can be big, but most are subtle, elegant, and go well with a very wide array of foods. This one is explosive in flavor but isn't over-extracted in the least. I now have several favorite Mt Etna wines- lets hope the volcano doesn't ruin all the vines
