Popped and poured, enjoyed over three days. Consistent notes throughout but gained weight and depth each day. The 2007 Elio Grasso pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core and a slightly watery rim. Very small signs of sediment. Medium+ viscosity. Very light staining of the tears. On the nose redolent of dark funky cherry fruit, tar red roses dried earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium++ tannin and medium+ acid. It’s boasting dry, powerful notes of cherry fruit and almost has a purple sweet tart thing on the finish…which is very long and savory. This is a gorgeous example of Barolo from the 2007 vintage and has many, many years to go. Grazie Tim!

A bit tired. May be a provenance issue.

I love Grasso. I think the estate hits the sweet spot that probably appeals to the widest cornucopia of drinkers whilst retaining tradition and beauty. Having visited the winery and seen its exemplary cleanliness, its no surprise to this wine shine brighter and clearer and the Giacosa Faletto next to it. Yes o much polish is the only drawback, but that’s not so bad. Very well done.

Didn't pay attention to the fact that I had this last year; probably should have waited much longer. Gave this an hour in a wide-bottom decanter. Relative to my previous bottle, this showed a bit more closed. On the nose, still some blood orange, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of oak, but less effusive. On the palate, good acidity, some rose water, blood orange, and red fruit, followed by cool herbs. Finished with black pepper and showed tons of dusty/grainy tannins. Pretty good right now, but wish I hadn't opened this now.
