Classic '05 intensity but with the defining noblesse of the producer, not too many '05's are this expressive & giving, but that's why you pay the price for greatness.

A special dinner for turning 40. This wine was the star. Transformative, floral, violets, mushrooms, dried cherry...blah blah blah. You can taste the horses as they walk the rows. The sun on the vine. The essence of the grape. Pure terroir....

Oh, well... Perhaps, one of the finest bottle I've ever had. I love Echezaux and juicy 2005 is my favorite of recent vintages. Perfected elegance, very fruit focused with some serious deep forest and bark on the nose, that keeps on giving with surprising caramel, estragon and strawberry later on. Palate is like the smoothest of silks, still very young with velvety, yet delivering gently tight grip tannins. Holy shit, I lost a piece of my heart with this wine. Absolutely in love.
