of the Cornas flight, this was the standout and again, the lineup was significant. It was a wonderfully wild expression of Syrah in the way that Cornas provides and yet, there was some real sophistication to it as well. Mostly primary with deep, delicious dark berries leading the way with fabulous structure. Long way to go for this one. Simply in a different class tonight.

2009 Allemand Horizontal. I absolutely love Allemand’s wines. Always a seamless combination of both elegance and power. Both the Chaillot and Reynard showed perfectly, with the Reynard a bit more concentrated and deep than the Chaillot. Both wines had superb intensity, focus and a wonderful texture with the signature liquid rock, violets, herbs and cassis of Allemand Cornas. Fantastic duo.

An intense nose of violets and spice. Wonderfully concentrated silky dark fruit that teases you with what’s to come with more time in the bottle. Great tannic structure.

My co-WOTN was this open and captivating Cornas that was showing so much for a relatively young 💯 percent Syrah. This is probably the best youthful Cornas I’ve ever had the pleasure to drink. Dark hued plum, tar, smoke and burnt wood. Tremendous depth and intensity. Thank you @Michael Meyer!

Amazing aromatics, velvet texture, good acidity. Dark fruit, cigar box, touch of blood and forest floor. @ Absinthe in sf. This is great stuff

Showing much more brett than I am used to from this producer. It blew off a bit but it was still funky and the fruit was muted. Disappointing...
