I still cannot tell if this is over the hill or just needs more time than I had to give it to open because I feel as if it is still improving. The nose smells of marmalade, honey and a touch of orange. The palate is where things don’t quite come together. The sweetness is mostly gone but still plays on the palate with still very evident acidity and a touch of drying tannins. Flavors of honey and marmalade again dominate but also with a touch of bitter orange pith that throws everything slightly out of whack. It almost plays off like a sherry in some ways but without any of the telltale oxidation.
