The stalkiness of prior tastings has toned down somewhat and the beautifully handled fruit has been allowed to express itself with the whole bunch elements and French Oak. A lovely balanced Pinot Noir with that aromatic red fruited perfume. Definitely a gold medal from me.

Delectable - this is the Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir. Couldn’t see it in your options. Notes of red cherry with bunchy stalky notes. Root vegetables with fresh tilled loam. Still a lovely red fruited sweetness shining through the savoury bunchy notes on the palate. Of all of the Individual Paddock Pinots from Giant Steps, Applejack Vineyard is my favourite.

Savoury notes winning out over the fruit on the nose. Whole bunch stalky aromas with bright red fruits. On the palate red cherry and raspberry with that savouriness coming through on the palate. All in balance. Wines like this exemplify how Pinot can vary so much according to the terroir and the skill of the winemaker, in this case the talented Steve Flamsteed.

Very stalky and savoury on nose and palate. Steve may have overdone the whole bunch component in the ferment? A good wine as always from Giant Steps but would have preferred a bit more red fruit. First of 4 bottles. Will leave having the 2nd for a year.

Probably the most twiggy/stalky of Steve Flamsteed’s single vineyard cuvees. Perhaps overdid the whole bunch ferment aspect a little bit here. A good savoury intensity with fluid smooth tannins. Well made as always. From the very good 2015 vintage in the Yarra Valley.

Very vegetal stalky with some pepper and nettle. Obviously whole bunch fermentation. A little too much of this character for my palate. Needed a little more mid palate fruit. My favourite Single Vineyard Giant Steps Pinot Noir remains Applejack Vineyard of the 4 or 5 made by Steve Flamsteed.

Delectable do not appear to recognise this cuvée which is a Pinot Noir from the Primavera vineyard. Has been used in blends previously but in 2015 the fruit was good enough to warrant an Individual Vineyard cuvée. 100% whole bunch the nose has this spicy stinging nettle herbal slightly peppery character. Spicy cherry vibrant fruit comes thru on the palate with oak taking a back seat. An intriguing Pinot Noir.
