Red cherry and vanilla, touch of tobacco on the nose. Palate is focused on the red fruit, accented by the vanilla which endures on the back end. Acidity is preserved. Tannins are integrating nicely, not too grippy.

2013 opened December 2023. Let this wine open up because it will grow on you! Vanilla and cumin on the nose. A little bit of red fruit on the front. Cherries perhaps? But almost immediately a complex symphony of high notes and cool notes kick in on the mid palate. Menthol on the low notes and citrus on the high notes. I know that sounds discordant, but it’s discordant in a pleasant way. The high notes linger on the finish, leaving a lemon peel aftertaste. I’m not really doing this wine justice by my description of it, but this wine pushes my buttons in a good way. I’m glad I bought half a case of it because I bet it will improve over the next five years. Note to self: do not drink the next bottle before December 2024.
