Just Right California Cabernet Sauvignon

Fruity but slightly angular.

Fruit forward - a bit on the tannic side. Flavors of cassis and blackberry.

Decent attempt at replicating a popular wine. In a side by side tasting, fairly spot on. Slightly sweeter then Justin. Cocoa nibs, blackberry, dried figs, mild oak, slight minerality.

I had heard about Replica wines so thought I’d give this a try when I ran across it in a store. Found out later this was replicating Joel Gott 815 Cab (a pleasant but mediocre wine at best) which, interestingly enough, sells for less than JustRight where I live. I’d have thought they’d try to replicate some higher end wine but I guess not. They sort of got close, but no cigar. Haven’t had JG in a while but struck me as harsher with somewhat nasty finish.

Sweet but light. I really enjoyed this one.

Good Stuff

Definitely just right. We had grilled rack of lamb with mashed sweet potatoes with apples and walnuts. The plates were accented with a balsamic vinegar reduction. Not heavy on tannins. Perfect pairing. 2014

It is just right!
