Great stuff. Young. Right. Good tannins. Powerful. Let rest. Revisit at 10.

Dark and brooding in the glass but I was startled to see how expressive and balanced it was. I was expecting tannin and heat but this is totally in check. The only Cab Franc I recall from Saturday night in Iowa so it was a welcome change up. Thank you @Nick Hodne for the intro.

Today was my annual hosting of the Wednesday Wine Committee. There was 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert, all provided by me. Tasted blind, as always.

Red wine number three. You can tell there is the addition of Howell Mtn fruit in this with its wildly gripping tannins and the smallest hint of mint. Nose smells of American oak (even though this was all French oak)...has that sweet dill/coconut note. Lush blue and black fruits on the palate and cedar. Nutmeg too. Kirsch and dusty finish. Consistently a top performer for Napa Valley CabFranc.

I hope you guys are all enjoying it.

Dark purplish ruby red. Lush floral notes on the nose with some cinnamon, dark spices, dark berries, and blackberries. Heavy drying tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Dark berries on the palate with some blue and black fruits followed by spices and purple flowers. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2029.

Will be released in the Spring.
@David L definitely one I recommend!

Release price is $85.00.

The rating on this will improve. Only been in bottle 4-6months, so lots of time is needed to evolve. Similar structure to the ‘13. Kind of in a funky stage now...acidity and tannins are all over the place. Even so, you can tell where it will end up. More black fruit dominant than the last two vintages...not only does this have Howell, but Atlas Peak as well.

Wouldn’t be a holiday without our favorite cab franc! We are doing our best to let ‘13s rest a while and starting to open the ‘14s. Believe it or not, I think the ‘14 will out live the ‘13.
