95% Shiraz, 5% Cabernet. Considered to be one of the top 5 Granges in the 50 years between 1951 and 2001. I’ve always rated the 91 slightly higher than the 1990 which put Grange on the map in the USA when Wine Spectator made it their Wine of the Year and front page of their magazine. Nicely mature at 32 years with at least another decade or two in front of it. Black fruits of berry and cherry with mocha and dark chocolate. An absolutely smashing opulent wine which is made to go with Roast Lamb. Next one in 5 to 10 years.

Sipping Fine Wine

Blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Cab Sauv, deep Ruby with aromas of rich fruit, cedar, sweet herbs and pepper notes, for this difficult vintage. On my the palate fruit flavors of expressive raspberry and cherry with notes of vanilla, cedar, licorice and herbal tea. Fine grippy tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and spice. Nice! Tasting Sample! Tried twice!

2013 vintage. Wow. What a big, yet surprisingly refined wine. Roasted black cherry, blackberry, mulberry, smoke, cooling eucalyptus or mint, tangy blood orange peel, dusty sage, walnut skin. Very long finish. Raising a glass to my dearly departed grandmother tonight. Lots of life ahead for this wine.

Crimson with a tawny rim showing its 28 years of age. Mocha, red currant loam and spice aromas. Medium weight sweet spicy notes on the palate with resolved Tannins - Seamless! Lacks the fruit power to be a great Grange - just merely Very Good, particularly for the cool growing season in 1992. More elegant than a blockbuster like 83, 86, or 91. A classy wine whichever way you cut it.
