Ruby color with aromas of dark red fruits, forest floor notes and herb spice, barrel-aged 10 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with leather, pepper, tea and herb spice. Fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and earthy character. Nice!

The wine we opened last night was the 2020 Alexana Terroir Series Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. This is from Newberg, Oregon.

On the nose there are notes of cherry, raspberry, spice, clove, mushroom, vanilla, smokey oak and dry soil.

On the palate there are red fruits, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, clove, mushroom, cinnamon, baking spice and forest floor.

This is a medium bodied wine with a smooth plush mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that leaves us with a medium+ to long red fruit earthy mushroom finish. This being a short week we are already facing a new weekend in front of us. Fall seems to be pushing forward and the mornings are already cooler. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Cherry, raspberry, blackberry, currant, vanilla, mossy earth and oak. Great structure and well-integrated tannins.

Started by Dr. Madaiah Revana who met Lynn Penner-Ash in the spring 2005, ending his search in Willamette Valley, and naming the winery after his daughter. Aromas of berry fruits and sweet spice. On the palate blackberry and strawberry with cedar, cacao and black pepper. Fine tannins, nice mouthfeel, lingering ending with oak notes.

So, having terroir in the name might be misleading, as the oak treatment is what takes center stage. Caramel, black cherry, cocoa powder, and underbrush are presented in both a juicy and structured style. Atypical of Oregon, but delicious nonetheless.
