Another great day game driving in Mala Mala.

We had this Cabernet with Ostrich at Rattray’s. The Ostrich delicious. If you haven’t had Ostrich, it’s very good...comparable to a very good Sirloin Strip only better.

No well detailed notes on the Cabernet. However, it’s quite good. The wine is; ripe, round, lush and full body. Nice fruits of; blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries. Nicely layered, soft baking spices; cinnamon, vanilla, just a touch of clove & nutmeg. Dark chocolate, hints of mocha, dark rich soils, soft granitic minerals, round acidity, well balanced with a lush finish. Nice & easy to drink. Extremely good QPR here.

Photos of; tonight’s Mala Mala sunset, Bull Elephant stopping for a drink, two Rhinos with their Calf and our nine Giraffe sighting this morning.

Dark ruby color. Very noticeable “Cabernet Green Note” on both the nose and pallet. Other aromas and flavors include wild berries, plums, tobacco and vanilla. Touch of black pepper spice on the very oaky finish. Firm tannins and reasonably well balanced. If tasting blind, I would have thought this wine was more of a cool climate Cabernet Franc.

This is a winner. Incredible price for a really big cabernet. Must have with food. Tannins are big and forward. Only fault I could find is some more aroma. Definitely recommend.
