Soft and fragrant. Cedar, wet gravel, soft plummy fruit. So nice with lamb shanks!

Fabulous at 22 years of age. Deep color, black berries and currant, plum, mint, cedar, horse saddle and well balanced minerality. Impressive. Well structured and great fruit that would lend toward a Napa drinker. Soft, silky tannins

Haut-Brion 1989 second wine Bahans, epic!
This bottle was in really good shape, the cork was moist still leading to an easy open even with the Durand.
The color was a deep ruby red with some brick red at the edges, surprisingly youthful in appearance at the core with the expected fading edges.
The nose was incredibly aromatic, literally exploding from the cork pull. In the glass I could take in notes of frankincense, red dried fruits, savory beef notes, and saddle leather. The flavors on the palate were expansive and long, framed by the fine grain, supple tannin. The tannin was mostly resolved, giving a sensual and delicate persistence that pushed through on the long finish.
A beautiful wine that is in a great place right now!

Disappointed. We carried this across the pond and it didn't show well. Thin. Holding onto it for 24 hours. Let's see whether it improves. Bit could be in a dumb phase. Who knows

An oldie but a goodie, great claret color, garnet with a touch of purple, a faint brick on the rim. The nose is haunting, with leather and old library page aromas, dried sweet tobacco, smoke, and roasted coffee beans. The palate is silky, expansive, with savory notes and lush and full textures. A long, elegant and broad finish.
