Toasty and alcohol dominant upfront, but a little decant or time in the glass and this peppery, oaky, berry petite Syrah is ended up nicely. Actually had enough glycerol flavor and structure to have some layering of flavors after 30 minutes, and would likely be even better in a couple more years. Dark fruit moves to the forefront with balanced spice and wood with some time. Not a huge wine, but really good value.

This had delicious dark berry and black pepper flavors, with oak, strong tannins, and moderate acidity. It also had an alcoholic heat that made it a little rough. But I still liked it. It worked as an after dinner wine with a plate of blackberries and chocolates.

Sep 23rd, 2017Quite oaky but very good with strong undertones of berries. Very smooth finish and a nice lasting after taste. Excellent price for a wine from Mendocino.

Great from the start, dry, cherry flavored. Monsie said she tastes cherry, I felt like it lacked flavor. The spice came out towards the end of the meal. Had at Ulele in Tampa. Monsie enjoyed very much.
