Beautiful wine. My new favorite from Steven Kistler and Occidental. Has legs that go on and on and on. Austere and gorgeous. Pure! I can’t wait to try this tomorrow on day 2.

A rich Sonoma Coast Pinot from a top producer. Plenty of oak and cherry compote, but not as overwhelming as other Cali producers. For most west coast drinkers, this may be as good as it gets. Perhaps could benefit from further aging as there is taughtness when first opened, but we will have to test this out.

BBQ & Zin night!

A nice change of pace against the heavy zins! Big scores on here. I definitely get the blood orange notes with a streak of black cherry down the middle of the palate. Cedar, slightly stemmy, and potpourri. Loads of flavor without being jammy. Beautiful.

At the 6-year mark, this formerly grippy 2012 is only now beginning to open up. Reminds me of a Gevrey-Chambertin... this is beautiful wine. Bright red fruit, integrated tannins, and little of that green grapefruit and tomato leaf edge that says this can go another 5-10 years.

Some might say this is "overdone/extracted" but I loved it. Not sure it was the best pick for the food but was going for a flavor profile that everyone would like. Went quick.

Impeccably balanced. Nuanced and definition is remarkable. Great bottle.
