I haven't tasted this wine in several vintages so I thought it was time to loop back. My thoughts on it are the same. I don't really care for deep, bold pinots, and that's what we've got here. I mean, I really can't count myself shocked as all the Van Westen wines are in this style, so I guess it's house-appropriate. Well-made to be sure. The fact that it's a collaboration with an outside winemaker makes it neat as well especially consisidering the number of years the collaboration has been in place. Well done! I just look for a little more subtlety in a pinot. Some wayward tasting notes. A shock here and there. In this case, I'll take a robust, dark-colored glass, with a straight-ahead taste that went well with my Saturday night rib dinner. I buy quite a bit of Van Westen wine each vintage and I love the house style, but I think I'll keep this one in the curiosity category that I'll try every couple of vintages.

Such a gorgeous wine. Smooth, spicy, cherries, mineral-y. Definitely a standout Pinot, has to be one of the best in the region.
